The McLaren P1 is perhaps one of the most advanced cars of our lifetime. Considered the successor to the McLaren F1, the P1 is a plug-in hybrid super car. Yeah! A HYBRID! The electric motor can be deployed manually by the driver or left in automatic mode, whereby the car fills the gaps in the gas motor's output (also considered turbo lag). This gives the power-train an effective power-band of almost 7000rpm of real wheel driven power. That's quite a bit of power.
The car can be operated using either the gas engine, the electric motor or with a combination of the two. The battery can be fully charged in two hours, charged by the engine or through a plug-in adapter. The P1 has an all-electric range of at least 6.2 mi (10 km). The P1 has a gasoline consumption of 4.8 gallons per 100 mi, and as a result, the P1 combined fuel economy in EV mode was rated by the EPA at 18 miles per gallon equivalent,
The interior of the car is nearly as wonderful as the outside. Look at all those fancy screens and buttons. Beautifully understated.
